The 2012 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals Presented by Hibiclens and The Marines is an event that is by no doubt overflowing with individual and team talent. The twenty-four teams, who will be traveling to compete at the four regional locations, have both strength and depth. The Regional Tournament and Championship Final Round of this event has been dubbed Mat Mayhem.

In the summer of 2010, Beau Vest felt like the mat had literally been pulled out from under him. Luckily for Vest, he soon landed on his feet. He was tabbed as the new head wrestling coach at Midland (Neb.), a school that had not seen a wrestling program since 1982.

The air dates have been set for the 2012 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals Presented by Hibiclens and The Marines, which took place on January 7-8, 2012, in Springfield, Illinois. Each of the five divisions (Division II, Division III, NAIA, NJCAA, and Women) will be represented in the broadcast. See the table below for air dates, times and what round will be shown. Please check your local listings for proper times as the times below reflect Eastern Standard Time.

2012 Mat Mayhem Tournament Format

February 2012 is an exciting month for college wrestling as the first ever regional team dual meet tournament will take place. The NWCA/Cliff Keen Division I National Duals Presented by Hibiclens and The Marines, will be held at Cornell, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Rutgers on the weekend of February 11th. The ultimate goal of the National Duals (regionals and final), which is coined Mat Mayhem is to create a premier national dual meet championship that will become a platform for growing spectator and media interest in wrestling both at the institutional and national levels.

NCAA releases Wrestling Coaches Panel Rankings for January 19

INDIANAPOLIS--- The NCAA released Friday the first of three coaches’ panel rankings for the 2011-12 wrestling season. The final rankings will be one of the tools used as part of the selection process to determine the qualifiers for the 2012 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.

NWCA, Track Wrestling and Wrestling Video Solutions Awarded Bid to Bring Unprecedented Technology to NCAA Championships

The National Wrestling Coaches Association and its event management partner, Trackwrestling, have been awarded the bid to provide the statistical software solution and score clocks for the 2012 NCAA Wrestling Championships in all three divisions. In addition, the NWCA and Trackwrestling have partnered with Wrestling Video Solutions to provide video solutions for the NCAA Division I Championships.

Oklahoma State unanimously takes the No. 1 spot NWCA/USA Today Division I Coaches Poll, after defeating former No. 1 Iowa, this weekend 17-16 on criteria. That victory stopped the Hawkeyes win streak of 84 consecutive wins.

Malecek's UW LAX Looks to National Duals in Springfield, Talks to Takedown

Evanston, Ill. - University of Wisconsin-La Crosse senior Bebeto Yewah placed fifth at 141-pounds at the 49th Annual Midlands Wrestling Championships Friday night in Welsh-Ryan Arena at Northwestern University. Invited to the tournament, Yewah went 5-2 in the two-day meet and is now 17-2 on the season. He is currently ranked first in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III at 141-pounds.

Some people consider wrestling the sport of Abraham Lincoln, considering the 16th United States president first made his name known when Lincoln squared off against Jack Armstrong in this Midwest state years before Abe entered the White House. If this is indeed true, than what better place for the National Wrestling Coaches Association to hold its National Duals in the town — Springfield, Ill. — where Lincoln was buried and in the Prairie Capital Convention Center on Jan. 7-8, 2012.
