Northwestern University and Stanford University’s wrestling programs are two of the eight Division I wrestling programs honored today by the NCAA for earning Public Recognition Awards, based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate. These annual awards are earned by teams with APRs in the top 10% in each sport.

Manheim, Pa. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholastic Board of Directors is proud to announce the annual National Scholastic Award Winners. The NWCA presents awards in three categories: National Coach of the Year/National Prep Coach of the Year, National Assistant Coach of the Year and National Senior Wrestler of the Year/National Prep Senior Wrestler of the Year.

MSG Sports announced today that, for the first time in Madison Square Garden history, collegiate wrestling will take to the mat in the inaugural “Grapple at the Garden, benefiting Beat the Streets.” Bucknell, Chattanooga, Hofstra, Iowa, Maryland, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Ohio State and Rutgers will participate in the historic event on Sunday, December 16, at The World’s Most Famous Arena.

As explained in the original NWCA news release that was circulated earlier this year, there are three specific categories that team’s are eligible to submit videos for that are outlined below:

As the NWCA Coaching Leadership Academy reaches its fourth year of existence, a modified Academy curriculum is being offered to college coaches who are currently coaching at or wish to pursue coaching positions at faith-based schools. This is in response to the surging number of new intercollegiate wrestling teams being established at faith-based schools. In the past fifteen months fourteen of the nineteen new teams established are at faith-based colleges.

The Division II All-Academic Wrestling Team consists of 166 student-athletes from 40 colleges and universities. Thirty-seven members were named to the first team, 45 members to the second team, and 82 were named as honorable mention.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (April 26, 2012) — High school wrestlers who are called for a third stalling violation will receive a stiffer penalty beginning with the 2012-13 season. In addition to the two-point penalty assessed for a third stalling violation, the opponent will now have his or her choice of position on the next restart.

ST. LOUIS – March 14, 2012 – Tickets for this week’s NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in St. Louis are sold out. The three-day event takes place at Scottrade Center Thursday through Saturday (March 15-17). With the venue filled to capacity for all six sessions, the event will set the Championships’ all-time attendance record. More than 110,000 fans will attend.

Joining Burroughs, will be nationally renowned high school coach, Don Owen of University High School in Spokane, WA.
