August 2020 Scholastic Leadership Academy Update

By Bud Hennebaul, Scholastic Leadership Academy Director

We have made it through another month, and my hope is all our wrestling coaches, wrestlers, and families are safe and healthy. The world has been going through challenging times as we work to get through the pandemic. Ultimately, we want to see you and your wrestlers return to wrestling this season. The staff at the NWCA are working hard to help our wrestling coaches be better prepared when that day comes.

We are pleased with how successful the NWCA Virtual Convention was delivered and received by the record number of coaches and officials. Thank you to all of you who took the time to invest in themselves, their program, and the sport of wrestling.

We are excited to bring back our weekly webinar series! We had so much success with the Spring webinars we feel it will be beneficial to our coaches at all levels to return next month, and the series will run into November. We will have another All-Star lineup bringing excellent content to help all our coaches. The only hint I can give you is we already have our first webinar set up to get you, Coach Dave Crowell. Please make plans to spend an hour a week with us. You will not regret the time well spent.

The other exciting news will be the Virtual Convention’s success has allowed us the opportunity to work with the state high school coaches’ associations to bring an online virtual platform to the states for their annual clinics. This is big news to work with each state as we continue social distancing. Those of you who joined us for the convention know this will be a perfect way to host an annual clinic in your state. We are already having discussions with sixteen states currently. If you or anyone in your state is interested, please reach out to me.

Look for more information coming soon for our Fall Webinar Series!
