NWCA Scholastic Awards

The NWCA Scholastic Awards annually recognize a head and assistant high school coach of the year in each state. In addition, state winners become eligible for regional and national awards.

Tennessee’s presentation of the National High School Wrestling Coach of the Year went to Pat Simpson, Nashville, TN. Pat was also the Section 3 and the Tennessee NWCA Coach of the Year. Pictured right to left, Al Miller NWCA Rep, Simpson and Simpson’s brother, sons & nephews (all high school coaches).


Tennessee’s Science Hill H.S. Coaches Jeff Price & Jimmy Miller present SoutheastAssistant Coach of the Year plaque to Caleb Meyers.

Presentation of the NWCA Coach of the Year award went to Tim Roberts, Dundee High School, Dundee, Michigan.

The presentation occurred during the Individual State Championships on March 2, 2017, held at the Palace of Auburn Hills, which includes all four classes. 

Georgia Coach of the Year presentation was presented by Jason Hicks, Georgia State Chair and Dennis Stromie, NWCA Scholastic Board member.

2016 Georgia Coach of the year went to Kendall Love from Commerce High School and the Assistant Coach if the Year went to Rusty Transue from North Forsyth High School.
