Best of Brands Power Rankings: Teams Surging as March Matness Nears

March Matness is right around the corner and teams are surging their way to the top of the Best of Brands Power Rankings, making way for virtually a whole new Top 20 in this month’s updated rankings. Rankings are established based on the programs that are most effectively building their brand via social media, sharing program content and keeping fans updated on social media. Activity has sure been heating up as the season comes to the home stretch.

Making waves and taking names on the way to No. 1 is Campbell, making the jump from No. 8 in the previous Power Rankings. They’ve been in the mix and find themselves at the top, deservedly so. Campbell’s has been consistent in their “Takedown of the Week”, clever ruses to attract crowds out to dual meets (Takedowns and Togas), stylish GIFs and graphics to keep followers updated on results, and videos of coach interviews and sneak peak of practices.

Wisconsin badgered their way to No. 2, keeping followers and fans updated with match results encompassed by graphics and match portfolios. Rounding out a whole new Top 5 are South Dakota State University getting jacked up to No. 3 and North Dakota State University and University of Penn at No. 4 and No. 5 after impressive Best of Brand Throwdown Video submissions.

Similar to the Top 5, the rest of the Top 15 seem to have been hit by a tornado as Minnesota (previously No. 2) fell to No. 6, Illinois made a move up to No. 7, Mizzou (previously No. 1) slid to No. 8, Northwestern at No. 9, and Purdue makes a huge jump from No. 16 in the last month’s rankings to No. 10. While these teams remain media savvy, the rankings just prove the competitiveness of the rankings and just how much these teams are burning up the media.

The latter half of the Top 20 Power Rankings saw a few teams falling off from previous rankings as well as some teams making their debut onto the list. Ohio State makes a small jump on up, Johnston & Wales and Army are both steadily climbing the ranks, and Stanford jumps into the rankings after previously getting Honorable Mention.

With the season’s conclusion nearing, expect for other teams outside the Top 20 to make for an exciting, competitive push just as any wrestling fan craves to watch and any wrestler lives for.
