NWCA Goals & Objectives

  • Transform coaching from an occupation to a profession through the implementation of non-technical/tactical coaching development programs (e.g. courses designed to develop administrative and small business CEO skills) to volunteer youth coaches, scholastic and collegiate wrestling coaches.

  • To promote diversity, the NWCA is fostering the growth of women’s wrestling and more minority coaches.

  • Be the leader in promoting fitness/nutrition in schools across America. Position wrestlers to be role models for combating the number one threat to our nation’s kids, childhood obesity.

  • Position wrestling to be an integral part of physical education curriculums.

  • Strengthen wrestling’s alignment with educational mission, vision, and values through leadership training for both student-athletes and coaches.

  • Build strong strategic alliances with prominent entities/agencies in the education, athletic, and fitness/nutrition communities.

  • Position scholastic and collegiate folk-style wrestling to be a mainstream spectator sport covered extensively by the media and supported by corporate America.

  • Maintain a high level commitment to saving threatened wrestling programs and establishing new ones.

  • Promote excellence through highly visible recognition programs.

  • Provide nationally recognized events for high school and college wrestlers.
