NWCA to Launch Advanced Tech Solution for Weight Certification with InBody and Trackwrestling

The NWCA develops a technologically advanced solution with partners InBody and Trackwrestling that helps coaches, athletic trainers, and athletic administrators improve the efficiency of the weight certification program.

Manheim, PA., December 11, 2019 – Wrestling weight certifications cost a lot of resources and time, and they are a significant source of stress for coaches, athletic trainers, and athletic administrators. Many state associations have to coordinate a large number of staff to successfully certify several hundred student-athletes in a short time frame.

When assessing a large number of student-athletes at one time, the process can be a time-consuming, labor-intensive and result in data entry errors.

NWCA, The National Wrestling Coaches Association, reached out to their existing partners, InBody and Trackwrestling, for their technological expertise to develop a solution that would streamline the assessment process. InBody is NWCA’s official body composition partner and Trackwrestling powers NWCA’s Optimal Performance Calculator for Weight Management.  The goal was to develop a solution that would make wrestling certifications more efficient, reduce the time and staff needed, and minimize data entry errors.

These three organizations came together to develop a digital solution that integrated the InBody device to Trackwrestling’s online weight management platform. A wrestler will test their weight, muscle mass, and body fat percentage on the InBody device. These results will automatically upload via Bluetooth to Lookin’Body 120, a data management software, which can be used on any laptop or computer. Finally, the results are automatically transferred from Lookin’Body 120 into the Optimal Performance Calculator. There is no manual data entry involved and the whole process is digital.

The NWCA is thrilled to announce that for the first time, we are providing a gold standard body composition assessment scale that is fully integrated with the optimal performance calculator. This new integration will save athletic trainers and administrators countless hours of manual weight certification data entry,” says Mike Moyer, Executive Director, NWCA”

The solution will save schools a significant amount of time and resources and hopefully prevent the type of data entry errors that may cause a student-athlete to lose a significant part of their season.
