Chapel Hill, NC – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), in coordination with Elite Level Sport Marketing (ELSM), has named 12 programs as 2013-14 Best of Brand finalists for the Gold Standard category in the Open Division.

The programs that were announced as finalists by a committee are the following: Cypress Lake Wrestling Club (CLWC), Detroit Catholic Central High School, Easton High School, Edgemont High School, Hood River Valley High School, Jordan High School, Lake Norman High School, Legends of Gold, Osceola High School, Parkview High School, Peachtree Ridge High School, and Wyoming Seminary Prep.

“Special congrats to all of the finalists in the Gold Standard category,” said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer. “These programs represent the best of the best when it comes to promoting our sport with social media.”

While there are three Open Division categories, the “Gold Standard” is recognized as the highest honor in the Best of Brand Awards program as it strives to highlight the wrestling teams that have set a unique standard in marketing their programs in an innovative manner. These finalists used social media effectively to market themselves and consistently build their brand during the season.

“The Best of Brand field was extremely competitive this year with over 65 programs involved in year long social media marketing,” said ELSM CEO Coyte Cooper. “The fact that we have so many entries indicates that we are continuing to grow our sport through a proactive branding approach at the grassroots level.”

From this group of finalists, three will be named as top programs at the NWCA Convention in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from August 1-3, 2014.  The winner will be honored at a Best of Brand breakfast that focuses on highlighting the unique branding efforts implemented by programs.

The Best of Brand Awards program is an initiative designed to honor wrestling programs for their investment in marketing.  By honoring high school, youth, and club programs, the Open Division is designed to inspire coaches to engage in branding initiatives at all levels to grow the sport.
