Nicholson slated to compete at 125 for NWCA All- Star Classic

11/19/2009 9:29:37 AM

A late cancellation from the competition from Anthony Robles of Arizona State yesterday, allowed for No. 5 ranked James Nicholson from Old Dominion University to compete in the 44th NWCA All-Star Classic.

This is the second year in a row Nicholson has competed in the event. Old Dominion has only had two competitors in the event; Wayne Bright wrestled Dan Gable in the 1970 event.

In addition, Abe Otrambo of UC Davis will be replacing Cal State’s Fullerton’s John Drake at 197 after Drake was injured and had to withdraw. Otrambo will be competing  in a local feature match at 197 pounds against Riley Orozco of Cal State Bakersfield.

Action will get under way Sunday, November 22, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Titan Gym on the campus of Cal State Fullerton.  This is event is serving as a fundraiser for the Cal State Fullerton Program as they need to raise a total of $400,000 by August 2010 to keep their program.
