The NWCA/USA Today Division I Team Coaches Poll for December 8, 2009, has been released.
The NWCA/USA Today Division I Team Coaches Poll Committee is made up of one coach from each conference. A number one ranking is worth 25 points and a number 25 ranking is worth one point.
Iowa retains their No. 1 spot for the fifth week in a row after defeating No. 2 Iowa State in a close 18-16 dual meet. Ohio State and Oklahoma State switch places in the rankings as Ohio State moved up to No. 3, after winning the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational this past weekend. Central Michigan moved into this week’s top 5, as they improve their season record to 5-0.
Minnesota drops to No. 6 creating a tie with Cornell who moves up from No. 9. Boise State and Maryland swap rankings from last week as Boise State moves to No. 7. Oklahoma moves into the top 10 for the first time this season after a tough Bedlam Dual last week that resulted in a tie with Oklahoma State at 16-16.
A new poll will be released every Tuesday from now until the week of the NCAA Division I Wrestling Tournament and can be found at www.nwcaonline.com.
