Best of Brand Power Rankings: Change from Top to Bottom in January’s Power Ranking Shows Strong Field to Begin 2017!
Tyler Fridley- ELSM Intern
As the high school wrestling season has post season right around the corner, more teams are making a presence on social media! In this month’s Power Ranking we had a total of 28 schools receive at least two votes to make the top 20. This is beginning to get competitive to reach the top 20 which is a huge accomplishment!
Taking over the number one spot in this month’s Best of Brand Power Ranking is Jeffersonville (IN). They have done a tremendous job with the amount of quality graphics and their unique hashtag #twosday every week with a video edit and connecting with their followers. They have been a great example in what to do.
Falling to the second and third spots are Sibley- Ocheyedan (IA) and Legends of Gold (SD), they continue to post great material that stands out from the rest of the competition. Rounding out the top 5 are Burlington (MA), who has made the largest leap in this month’s power ranking coming from unranked to fourth, and Cypress Lake (FL), who has continued to impress, rising one spot from last month.
From the rankings fifth to fifteenth, three new programs are making their debut on this competition. Aurora (SC), East Coweta (GA), and Omaha Central (NE) have all done an amazing job this past month that has made them show up on the radar with eye catching graphics and great fan interaction. While Kearney (NE), Beloit (KS), Frankfort (IN), and Lincoln Northeast (NE) have stayed consistent in the rankings while they have been improving every aspect of the competition.
All of the programs in the top 20 have been exceptional in their own unique ways throughout the first two power rankings, but they are trailed closely behind by several other programs expected to break into the spotlight soon! It seems that each of the teams right outside the rankings are poised to break the top 20, which will make the next few Power Rankings exciting and extremely competitive!
The Power Rankings are designed to highlight the programs that are most effectively building their brand and making a presence via social media and designed to honor programs investing in social media marketing to help grow the sport of Wrestling. Best of Brand Awards also recognizes programs that have created graphics and videos. To be considered for this part of the awards go to HS Submission Link (for Graphic and Video) to upload a graphic or video.
A new competition aspect we are bringing into the Best of Brand competition is The Best of Brand Throwdown’s. These competitions will be bi-weekly and will be a great way to continue to enhance your social media platforms. To enter these contests you simply put #Bestofbrandthrowdown on your tweet when posting it! The first competition is a creative graphic, and it will be voted on Thursday, January 26th! This has already taken off and we expect it to grow even more over the next week!
